Chapter 15 - The New Reign

The private cruiser glided through the international waters of the Adriatic Sea as dawn broke over the horizon, painting the sky in breathtaking strokes of gold, violet, and crimson. The gentle lapping of waves against the steel hull was the only sound breaking the serene morning quiet.
On the upper deck, Dominic Vance stood watching the sunrise. He had washed away the blood and soot. Dressed in a clean, dark linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, the intricate tattoos on his forearms catching the morning glow, he looked less like an underworld kingpin and more like a guardian titan.
Behind him, Elena walked out onto the teak deck, carrying two freshly washed bottles. She wore a simple, elegant dark dress provided by the ship’s steward, her hair falling naturally around her shoulders. She stepped up to the double bassinet secured beside Dominic’s chair.
Luca and Mia were awake, their wide hazel eyes looking up at the sky, cooing softly as Elena adjusted their warm cashmere blankets.
"They have your eyes," Elena remarked quietly, leaning over to gently touch Mia's tiny cheek.
Dominic turned his head, his gaze softening as he looked at the children, then shifting to Elena. "They have their mother’s eyes. But they have your stubbornness. That’s what will keep them alive."
"Where are we sailing?" Elena asked, looking out toward the endless expanse of blue ocean.
Dominic took one of the bottles from her hand, testing the temperature against his inner wrist with effortless familiarity. "To an island off the coast of Greece. High walls, private harbor, clear water. A place where they can grow up without knowing the smell of cordite."
He stepped closer to her, his massive presence carrying a profound, protective stillness that no longer intimidated Elena. He reached into his coat pocket and produced an antique platinum key, placing it into her palm.
"This opens the vault on the island. Whatever happens to me in this life, you and Marcus are their legal guardians. You are no longer on the payroll, Elena. You are part of this family."
Elena looked down at the heavy key in her hand, feeling the weight of the trust placed upon her shoulders. She looked up into Dominic’s dark, unyielding eyes and nodded.

"I won't let anything touch them," she said, her voice steady and resolute.
Dominic turned back toward the golden horizon, his hand resting beside hers on the edge of the bassinet. The Vance empire had fallen into dust overnight, but here, on the open sea, a far more dangerous and enduring kingdom had just been born.
