Chapter 15 - The Free Horizon

Harrison did not drop to one knee in a grand, theatrical performance meant for social media or high-society applause. Instead, he stood before her as a partner, opening a small, velvet box to reveal a simple, exquisitely cut emerald ring—her birthstone, chosen not for its price, but for its meaning.
"Eleanor," Harrison said, his voice thick with emotion, his eyes completely bare. "You showed me that a house isn't built of stone or legacy; it’s built of patience, dignity, and kindness. I don't want to possess you, and I never want to cage you. I just want to stand beside you, support your dreams, and spend every day honoring the woman you are. Will you build a life with us?"
Toby stood between them, holding onto Eleanor's sundress with one hand and Harrison’s trousers with the other, his little face glowing with breathless anticipation.
Tears spilled over Eleanor’s cheeks—not of sorrow or exhaustion, but of profound, luminous freedom. She remembered the girl in the ballroom, standing frozen under Richard's cruel insults, believing she had nothing of value to offer the world. How blind fear had made her. How vast the world truly was once she chose herself.
"Yes," Eleanor whispered, her voice steady, clear, and ringing with absolute certainty. "Yes, Harrison. Yes, Toby."

Toby let out a joyful yell that echoed off the glass panels of the greenhouse, throwing his arms around Eleanor’s waist. Harrison wrapped his strong arms around them both, pulling them close against his chest as the afternoon sun broke through the leaves above, bathing them in pure, golden light.
The past was nothing more than an echo in an empty room. Ahead of them lay an open road, shared laughter, and a love forged not in chains, but in freedom.
