Chapter 15 - An Empire Protected

The titanium briefcase clicked open, revealing twin hard drives and thick folders containing the complete organizational infrastructure of Ouroboros—every shell company, every corrupt executive, every bank account used to fund their mercenary operations.
Sal motioned to Marcus, who stepped forward and took the case.
""Transfer everything to our offshore accounts in the Caymans,"" Sal commanded. ""Then send the remaining records anonymously to the Justice Department. Let the federal prosecutors feast on her board of directors for the next decade.""
""No!"" Victoria gasped, finally breaking her composure. ""That will destroy dozens of international banks! It will trigger investigations across three continents!""
""Then you had better hire good lawyers,"" Sal said, standing up. ""Because as of this second, Ouroboros is dissolved. If I ever see your face in this hemisphere again, Victoria, I won't send an anti-ship missile. I will come for you myself.""
He turned and walked down the cabin aisle, leaving her alone amidst the wreckage of her ambitions.

Elena stepped out, wrapped in a thick knit sweater, holding baby Leo against her shoulder. The baby was sleeping peacefully, his tiny fist curled against her collarbone.
She walked up beside her father, looking out over the misty valley.
""Is it over?"" she asked softly.
Sal looked down at his grandson. The tension that had held his shoulders rigid for the last twenty-four hours melted away, replaced by an ancient, enduring strength.
""It's over, Elena,"" Sal said, placing his hand gently over the baby's tiny back. ""The ghosts have been laid to rest. There are no debts left unpaid.""
Elena leaned her head against her father's shoulder, feeling the steady, rhythmic beat of his heart. ""What do we do now?""
May you like
Sal took a sip of his coffee, watching the morning light chase the shadows from the trees. ""Now, we teach him how to carry our name. But this time... without the blood.""
As the baby stirred in Elena's arms, letting out a soft sigh of contentment, Sal smiled—a rare, genuine smile of a man who had walked through hell and returned with his family intact. The empire was safe, the line was secured, and the patriarch had reclaimed what was rightfully his."
