Chapter 11 - The Wilderness of Dead Signals

The van tore down an unpaved logging road, its tires kicking up plumes of dust and gravel that dissolved into the evening mist. Inside the darkened cab, Leo lay curled across the back bench with an old wool blanket wrapped around his shoulders, finally asleep after hours of terror. In his sleep, his little hand remained firmly clamped onto Sarah’s sleeve.

""Then what are you proposing?"" Marcus asked, glancing at her through the mirror.
""We go to the source,"" she said, tapping the encrypted tablet on her lap. ""Node Prime. Mount Rainier. That’s where the master ledger is housed. That’s where Leo’s arrest warrant originated.""
