Chapter 9 - The Healer's StoryChristian stepped closer, shaking his head. "Clara, you gave my son back his life. You did more for him in ten minutes with a warm cloth and genuine compassion than all the high-priced specialists I hired over five years. I don't want you to leave. In fact, I want to know who you really are."

Clara smiled faintly, a touch of melancholy in her expression. She looked out at Leo, who was mimicking the buzzing of the bee with soft, humming sounds.
"I’m not just a housekeeper, Mr. Ashford," Clara admitted quietly. "Before my mother fell ill and I had to take whatever work paid her medical bills, I was a pediatric speech therapist. I worked with children recovering from acoustic trauma."
Christian stared at her, stunned. "Then why apply for a domestic position here?"
"Because when Julian Vance’s foundation blacklisted small clinics in the city for not referring wealthy clients to his private network, my clinic was forced to close," Clara explained. "I saw the listing for the Ashford manor. I knew what happened to Mrs. Ashford, and I knew how isolated Leo was. I didn't come here with an agenda, sir. I just wanted to be near a child who needed someone to pay attention to the things everyone else ignored."
Christian exhaled slowly, feeling a deep, humbling sense of destiny. "Julian tried to buy silence, and the universe sent us someone who understands how to listen."
"He has a long road ahead, Mr. Ashford," Clara warned gently. "His auditory processing is five years behind. The world is going to feel loud, chaotic, and frightening. He will need patience, not grand gestures."

"Will you help us?" Christian asked, his eyes pleading with an openness he had never shown another soul since Sophia’s death. "Not as a maid. As his specialist. As a part of this family’s recovery."
Clara looked at him, then at Leo, whose laughter rang out across the garden as the bee flew away. "Yes, Mr. Ashford. I will."
