BLOODLINE OF BETRAYAL / Chapter 5 / 15

Chapter 5 - Cornered Beasts

""Sarah. Don't you dare move an inch,"" Nathan’s voice boomed across the hall, carrying an authority that commanded absolute obedience, even from a room full of panicked elites.

The entire crowd parted like the Red Sea, turning their heads to watch Sarah trapped halfway down aisle four, her emerald gown bunched up in her trembling hands. Every eye in the room was fixed on her, loaded with judgment, schadenfreude, and insatiable curiosity. The veil of wealthy elegance had been completely shredded, leaving behind a raw, ugly spectacle of human greed and betrayal.

Sarah stopped. She knew running was pointless; Nathan owned half the commercial real estate in the city, and the keys to her rented luxury life were tied directly to his bank accounts. She slowly turned around, her face stained with makeup tears, her chest heaving as she tried to gather whatever shreds of dignity she had left.

""Nathan... please,"" Sarah choked out, her voice cracking as she took a tentative step forward, reverting instantly to the very performance Ethan had just exposed. ""He's just a little boy. He doesn't understand what words mean. He hears things on television and mixes them up—""

""He quoted your exact bank account strategy, Sarah,"" Nathan interrupted, his voice laced with venom as he stalked down the steps of the dais, his eyes never leaving her. ""He mentioned the exact phrase you used when you talked to Maya about my face. Do children watch corporate restructuring podcasts now? Do they audit my tax returns in the second grade?""

Clara stood abandoned on the altar, the center of attention suddenly ripped away from her as the true drama unfolded below. Her chest tightened with cold fury. This was her wedding day. Months of planning, thousands of dollars in floral arrangements, global media coverage—all hijacked by a bitter ex-lover and a brat with a microphone. Her mouth twitched into a dangerous line as she watched Nathan approach Sarah like a wolf closing in on a wounded deer.

""You're done, Sarah,"" Nathan said, stopping just two feet away from her, his voice dropping to a harsh, lethal whisper that still managed to echo through the silent room. ""Every asset, every credit card, the car, the apartment lease—it's all cancelled. Effective thirty seconds ago.""

Sarah let out a choked, desperate sob, her hands flying to her mouth. But before she could collapse, a sharp, cold voice cut through the tension from the other side of the room.

""Oh, please. Don't act like you're the only victim here, Nathan,"" Clara snapped, stepping forward from the altar with her chin held high, her bridal train dragging proudly behind her. ""You thought you were buying a helpless little flower, and now you're crying because she had thorns? Look at me! My wedding is ruined because you couldn't keep your past out of our future!""
