Chapter 12 - The Architect's Vault

Adrian led them into the basement archive of the abandoned chemical plant—a forgotten subterranean vault built during the Cold War. Inside, cached beneath floorboards, lay Adrian’s true war chest: decrypted ledgers, biometric bypass devices, and heavy ordnance he had stockpiled for a reckoning he thought he had avoided.
While Clara tended to his wound, stitching the jagged tear along his ribs with steady, hardened hands, Adrian connected a portable terminal to Sarah's collarbone implant using a soft magnetic patch.
The screen illuminated with thousands of lines of cryptographic data.
"Victor lied," Adrian murmured, studying the scrolling code. "The implant isn't a bank key."
Clara leaned over his shoulder, watching the numbers shift into complex biological diagrams. "What is it?"
"It's the complete master log of Victor's illegal human testing facilities. The surrogates, the offshore clinics, the government officials he bribed to protect the network. Elena didn't steal money. She stole the evidence that can destroy his entire empire with a single upload."

Adrian looked up at the ceiling as the distant sound of helicopter blades began to beat against the damp morning air.
"He isn't hunting us to get rich," Clara realized with chilling clarity. "He's hunting us because Sarah is the living proof of his crimes."
