Chapter 10 - The Ironclad Reversal

The entire boardroom was frozen in deafening silence. Bradley’s eyes darted frantically between Maddie and Christian Kane, whose towering presence beside her signaled that the rules of engagement had fundamentally shattered.
""Security!"" Vanessa shrieked, breaking the spell as she rose from her chair, her manicured fingers trembling with rage. ""What is Christian Kane doing in our private corporate chambers? Remove them both immediately!""
""Kane Security already replaced the building’s third-party guards twenty minutes ago, Vanessa,"" Christian said smoothly, unbuttoning his suit jacket and taking a seat at the edge of the conference table. ""And as the legal holder of twenty-eight percent of this company's voting stock, I have every right to attend.""
""Twenty-eight percent?"" Bradley sneered, though his voice cracked at the edges. ""Richard’s will granted me full custody of unallocated shares in the event of an emergency! You hold nothing, Kane!""
""Show them the original, Mr. Hastings,"" Maddie said calmly.
From behind Christian stepped Arthur Sterling, pale and bruised, his arm secured in a medical sling, flanked by the city's Deputy Chief of Police.
When Bradley saw his uncle alive, his knees visibly buckled. He clutched the back of his executive chair to keep from collapsing.
""Uncle Arthur..."" Bradley whispered, horrified.
""I am no uncle to a traitor,"" Arthur said coldly. He laid the yellowed, wax-broken document directly in front of Harold Vance, the senior director. ""This is Richard Vance’s true, registered last will and testament, certified by the Supreme Court of this state seventy-two hours ago. Bradley Sterling's proxies are null and void.""
Harold adjusted his spectacles, his eyes widening as he read the covenants. ""Good God... Richard revoked all Sterling family trusts. Maddie inherits the full seventy-two percent voting share.""
""That's impossible!"" Vanessa screamed. ""She was unhinged! Richard told me himself—""
""My father told you what was necessary to keep you and Bradley from bleeding the company before he could secure my future,"" Maddie interrupted, stepping toward Bradley until she stood less than a foot away.
She reached into her folder and slapped a series of gloss-printed bank statements across his desk.
""Forty-two million dollars embezzled into an account in Saint Kitts,"" Maddie spoke with surgical precision. ""Signed by you, Bradley. Another twelve million funneled into shell corporations owned by your mother. And the forensic toxicologist’s report from my blood test four hours ago: high concentrations of aconite.""
Bradley stumbled backward, his back hitting the glass window. ""Maddie, listen to me... it was a misunderstanding. The party... the pool... it was all just high emotions—""
""Save it for the prosecutor,"" Maddie cut him off.
She turned to Harold Vance. ""Harold, as majority shareholder, I move to terminate Bradley Sterling from all executive positions and revoke his corporate access immediately.""
""Seconded,"" Christian added casually.
""All in favor?"" Harold asked, looking around the room.

Every single hand at the table shot into the air.
Maddie turned back to Bradley, her eyes flashing with cold triumph. ""Get out of my father's chair.""
