Chapter 12 - A Mother’s Wrath

The bathroom door splintered inward. Claire stood over the vanity, holding Leo tightly with her left arm. In her right hand, she gripped a heavy brass fire extinguisher she had ripped from the wall mount.
Derek aimed the pistol directly at her face, his eyes bloodshot and crazed. ""Open the emergency door! We jump onto the tarmac or I pull this trigger!""
""You took everything from me, Derek,"" Claire said, her voice dropping into a low, lethal register. ""You made me beg on the concrete. You made my baby starve.""
""Shut up and move!"" Derek yelled, his finger tightening on the trigger.

Derek collapsed onto the carpeted aisle, unconscious, blood pooling beneath his temple.
Claire picked up the fallen pistol, kicked Derek's limp body out of her way, and walked to the front exit of the Gulfstream. She stepped onto the upper platform under the floodlights, holding her son in one arm and keeping the gun pointed firmly at the tarmac.
The enforcers below froze. Hector Rossi looked up, seeing the young woman standing tall against the night sky, her gaze filled with lethal resolve.
