Chapter 12 - Mending the Tapestry Reconciliation did not arrive as a grand romantic declaration; it came through small, patient increments of shared life. It was Luca helping sweep fallen petals at Nia's floral shop on busy Mother's Day weekends. It was Nia dropping off a container of homemade beef stew when Luca caught a spring cold.

They were no longer the passionate, reckless lovers who had met in their twenties, blind to life's practical cruelties. They were weathered survivors who understood the cost of trust.

One Sunday, while the boys were at a birthday party, Luca invited Nia to his new home. There were no ostentatious luxuries; instead, the living room had low shelves packed with children's books, a watercolor painting Nia had made years ago hanging in the hallway, and an upright piano he was learning to play so he could accompany Leo's singing.

"I built this house for three people," Luca said quietly, standing by the open patio doors. "But only if all three want to be in it."
