Chapter 12 - The Hard Choice
Ethan cut the engine, letting the boat glide silently into the secluded cove, surrounded by towering cliffs and dense pine trees. The sudden silence was deafening, broken only by the gentle lapping of water against the hull. Ryan groaned as he shifted his weight, pressing a makeshift bandage to his wounded shoulder. ""Where do we go from here, Ethan? I'm a cop, and you're public enemy number one in three states. My department thinks you kidnapped that child,"" Ryan said bitterly. Ethan turned around, his eyes piercing through the darkness. ""I didn't kidnap him, Ryan. I created him—and the men who just raided that house want to use him as a living weapon."" Claire looked up sharply, the final pieces of the puzzle clicking into place. ""The Genesis Project... it wasn't shut down. They moved it underground."" Ethan nodded slowly, pulling the medical monitor from his coat and setting it down on the wooden seat between them. ""And now we have to destroy the data before they find us.""
