Chapter 15 - The Final Eviction

A cold drizzle fell over the iron gates of the grand Vance Manor. The massive estate stood silent, stripped of its former glory.

Julian and Amy arrived in an understated SUV, accompanied by the county sheriff and two moving vans. Julian held baby Leo, warmly bundled in a thick fleece coat, shielding him from the mist.

The front doors opened, and Eleanor stepped out onto the grand stone terrace. She was dressed in black, her face hollow, her eyes sunken. She looked twenty years older, stripped of her executive titles, her social standing, and her sycophantic friends.

""You dare come here to gloat?"" Eleanor rasped, her voice trembling in the autumn chill. ""To mock your own mother?""

Amy stepped forward, walking up the grand stone steps until she stood eye-to-eye with the woman who had once forced her to serve coffee like a slave.

""I am not here to gloat, Eleanor,"" Amy said, her voice clear, calm, and unshakable. ""I am here to protect my family’s future. This house no longer belongs to you. It belongs to Leo.""

Eleanor stared at the child in Julian’s arms. Leo looked back at her with big, innocent hazel eyes, entirely oblivious to the cruelty she had inflicted upon him.

""You have thirty days to vacate the premises,"" Julian added firmly, handing the eviction notice to the sheriff. ""A small cottage on the northern border has been prepared for you. You will have a modest monthly stipend. But you will never set foot in this main house again.""

Eleanor opened her mouth to scream, to unleash her venomous aristocratic fury, but looking into Amy’s steady, unyielding gaze, she realized her power was completely extinguished. Not a single person was left to obey her commands.

Amy turned her back on Eleanor, took Julian’s hand, and walked back down the steps together into the warmth of their car, leaving the broken matriarch alone in the cold rain."
