Before Moretti could negotiate or draw his weapon, a deafening roar of a heavy motorcycle engine reverberated through the hollow concrete chamber, echoing from an upper service ramp. A towering figure atop a customized chopper burst through the rusted iron gate, crashing directly into the side of the platform and knocking Victor off balance into the freezing water. The biker—a rugged 48-year-old man with long dark hair, a heavy beard, and a weathered leather vest—swung off the bike with practiced agility, shielding the little girl behind his broad shoulders. It was Jax, an old underground contact with a complicated history with Moretti’s family, his piercing eyes locked onto the thrashing Victor in the water. Victor managed to pull a knife, lunging toward Jax, but Moretti stepped in, delivering a swift, devastating blow that rendered the traitor unconscious before he could surface. As the echoes of the fight faded into the dripping silence, Jax looked down at the child, a rare, soft expression breaking through his hardened exterior as he recognized the striking resemblance to his old friend.
