She stroked the little girl’s hair with chilling affection, mocking Moretti’s surprise as she revealed how she had manipulated both brothers to consolidate total control over the corporate empire. Victor Vance stood by nervously, holding a detonator wired to the perimeter, while Elena demanded that Moretti sign over his controlling shares immediately if he wanted the child to see another sunrise. Moretti lowered his weapon slightly, feigning submission to buy precious seconds, his eyes locking onto the little girl who blinked back tears without making a sound. With a sudden, calculated lunge, Moretti didn't sign the papers; instead, he shattered a overhead electrical conduit with a single well-placed gunshot, plunging the hangar into sudden, blinding darkness.
