Chapter 15 - A Family Reborn

Julian and Elena stepped back, smiling warmly as Lily scrambled up the wooden steps, holding out a small, smooth white sea stone in her palm.
""It’s magic,"" Lily declared with absolute toddler seriousness, presenting it to Elena. ""If you hold it, the monsters stay away.""
Elena knelt down, taking the stone and pressing it into her palm, right next to her silver locket. ""It works, sweetheart. The monsters are gone.""
Julian joined them on the floor, wrapping his strong arms around both of them. Lily giggled, squirming happily between her parents. For the first time in four years, the cold shadow of grief completely vanished from Elena’s heart, replaced by the profound, unshakeable warmth of belonging.
Later that evening, after Lily had fallen asleep in the center of the giant master bed, clutching both her plush rabbit and her magic stone, Julian and Elena stood by the panoramic window looking out over the moonlit ocean.
Julian turned to Elena, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a small velvet box.
Elena gasped softly. ""Julian...""
""This isn't for corporate appearance, Elena,"" Julian said, opening the box to reveal a platinum band embedded with a single, flawless tear-shaped diamond. ""I don't care about public relations or trust fund requirements. I want you by my side. As Lily’s mother, and as my wife.""
Elena looked at the ring, then up into the eyes of the man who had fought through fire and bullets to save her life and restore her soul.
""Yes,"" Elena whispered, a tear of pure joy tracing her cheek. ""Yes, Julian.""
He slipped the ring onto her finger, pulling her close into an embrace that felt like coming home after an eternity in the cold. Their lips met in a tender, lingering kiss that sealed the promise of their new beginning.

Unknown entity has purchased 15% of Sterling Technologies through shell corporations in Zurich.
The screen pulsed silently in the empty control room as the ocean waves crashed below, oblivious to the storm gathering across the horizon."
