Chapter 12 - The Legacy of Memory

As autumn set in, the trees across the valley turned vivid shades of amber and gold. Toby’s school hosted an annual art showcase where students were asked to bring an object that represented their family history.
On the night of the event, Bennett and Lena sat in the auditorium alongside Jax. When Toby’s turn came, he walked up to the small display table at the front of the room.
He didn't bring an antique or a trophy. He brought a small wooden frame he had built with his father. Inside the frame sat two photographs side by side: the old, faded picture of the young biker with a baby, and a new, crisp photo of Jax and Toby standing together on the wooden bridge.

"This is my family," Toby announced to the room, his voice clear and confident. "We got lost for a while, but we found our way home."
Jax sat in the audience, holding his head high, a soft smile breaking through his beard.
