Chapter 2 - Unspoken Truths

In the quiet sanctuary of Bennett’s home, the stillness felt heavy. The adrenaline of the evening had faded, leaving behind exhaustion and lingering questions. Lena sat by the fireplace, wrapping a warm blanket tightly around her shoulders. Bennett brought over two cups of hot tea, sitting across from her with a quiet, observant demeanor.
"You don't have to talk about it tonight," Bennett offered gently, placing the mug on the wooden table between them.
"I have to," Lena murmured, looking down at the steam rising from her cup. "If we keep hiding behind silence, the past will keep catching up to us."

The photo was worn at the edges, creases running across the gloss, evidence of how often it had been held and studied over the years.
