Chapter 15 - The New Dawn

The morning sun broke through the tall windows of the recovery suite, washing away the oppressive darkness that had gripped the family for hours. Clara lay propped up in the hospital bed, her color slowly returning, though she was still weak from the emergency surgery.
In her arms, wrapped in a soft white blanket, lay their son.
Ethan sat on the edge of the bed, his hand resting over Clara's, watching the steady rise and fall of their baby's chest. For the first time in their lives, the shadow of Eleanor Vance was gone. The morning news playing silently on the television screen in the corner displayed Eleanor's mugshot alongside headlines announcing the collapse of the Vance executive board and federal raids on Vance Industries.
""What do we name him?"" Clara asked softly, her voice raspy but filled with warmth. She stroked the baby's fine brown hair.
Ethan looked toward the doorway, where Marcus and Lily stood quietly, watching over them like sentinels of their hard-won peace.
""Arthur,"" Ethan said, looking back at his wife. ""After my grandfather. The only one in that house who believed family was about love, not power.""
Clara smiled, leaning her head against Ethan’s shoulder. ""Arthur Vance. It sounds strong.""

""Just Arthur,"" Ethan corrected gently, reaching over to untie the hospital tag from his own wrist. ""We’re leaving the Vance name behind. Today, we start our own bloodline.""
Outside, the city was waking up to a new day. But inside the quiet room, the war was finally over, and the healing had just begun."
