Chapter 3 - The Enforcer's Entry

Julian shrieked, collapsing back onto the floor while clutching his broken wrist. The decanter shattered against the marble trim, spilling amber bourbon across the plush carpet like dried blood.

The newcomer did not spare Julian a second glance. He was tall, with sharp Scandinavian features, raven hair swept back, and pale blue eyes that held the coldness of a glacier. He wore leather gloves and an immaculate charcoal three-piece suit beneath his overcoat.

"Lady Victoria," he greeted with a deep, respectful bow. "The perimeter is secure. The guests have been dispersed under the guise of an imminent security threat from a rival cartel. None of them suspect the true nature of this transaction."

"Thank you, Gabriel," Victoria replied, her tone softening slightly, revealing the deep trust between them. "Did the Thorne accounts clear without friction?"

"Seventy-eight percent transferred directly to the Geneva vault," Gabriel reported, pulling out a slim titanium tablet. "The remaining balance is currently liquidating through their Luxembourg subsidiaries. By dusk, the Thorne family will technically be four hundred million dollars in debt to international creditors."

Silas swayed where he stood, the bodyguard’s gun still pinning him in place. "Four hundred million... We are bankrupt. We are dead men. The Russian cartels will skin us alive if their cut doesn't arrive by midnight!"

"That sounds like a personal logistical failure," Victoria remarked coldly.

"Why go through the charade of a wedding?" Julian whined through his tears and agony, trembling on the floor. "Why pretend to love me? You could have destroyed us from a distance! Why humiliate me like this?!"

Victoria walked toward Julian, her skirts rustling like falling autumn leaves. She stopped right above him, looking down with pure disdain.

"Because, Julian, you fancied yourself a master of women," she said softly. "You bragged to your inner circle that you would break me just as your father broke your mother. You held a golf club behind my back two minutes ago to remind me of my place. A creature like you does not deserve a clean financial death. You deserve to watch the throne crumble while you sit in the dirt at my feet."

Julian looked away, unable to bear the searing intensity of her gaze.

"Gabriel," Victoria commanded, turning away. "Bring the documents."

Gabriel stepped forward and opened a heavy leather portfolio, setting three thick stacks of legal papers onto the mirrored vanity. "Everything is prepared. Silas Thorne will sign the power of attorney over all maritime vessels, and Julian will sign the irrevocable transfer of the Thorne real estate trusts."

"And if I refuse?" Silas snarled, his pride resurfacing in a burst of suicidal defiance. "You're a high-born shadow. You operate in secrets. You won't kill me in this suite. It would create a scandal."

Victoria smiled, a terrifyingly beautiful sight. "Kill you? Of course not, Silas. Murder is so pedestrian. But Marcus behind you has spent three years cataloging every safehouse, every mistress, and every illegal offshore shipment your younger daughter, Clara, manages in Paris."

Silas’s defiance evaporated instantly. His jaw went slack, his eyes widening in pure horror. "Leave Clara out of this. She is innocent! She knows nothing about the family business!"

"Then sign," Victoria said, offering him an antique fountain pen. "Or your innocent daughter will be arrested in France before noon on charges of international arms trafficking. Which would you prefer?"

Silas’s hands shook violently as he reached for the pen. But before his fingers could touch the metal, a shrill alarm blared through the estate's internal speaker system, accompanied by the deafening sound of automatic gunfire downstairs.
