Chapter 12 - Building New Foundations

By Leo's fourth birthday, Bella’s botanical design business had expanded across the county. She employed three local women, designing regenerative gardens for schools and residential properties. Her life was filled with purpose, community, and genuine friendships.
Julian maintained his boundary with profound respect. He never pryed into her personal life, never questioned her dating choices, and never attempted to rekindle romantic ties.
Whenever he visited, he treated Bella with the deep courtesy one might extend to an esteemed partner in an important lifelong venture. He showed Leo that a man demonstrates love through reliability, honesty, and emotional restraint.
One summer evening, Bella stood on the cottage porch watching Julian teach Leo how to ride a small bicycle with training wheels along the flat gravel driveway. Leo’s laughter drifted across the lupine fields.
