A decade after that stormy night in St. Jude’s hospital room, Bella stood on the cliffside overlooking the vast Atlantic. The sunset painted the sky in shades of crimson, amber, and gold.

Down on the shore, Julian and ten-year-old Leo were skipping stones across the water, competing to see whose pebble could touch the third crest before sinking. Their voices carried up on the warm summer breeze, filled with uncomplicated joy.

The storm had cleared, leaving behind a wide, peaceful horizon.
