Chapter 13 - Reclaiming the Crown

Seventy-two hours later, the grand conference hall of the Vance Tower in the heart of the metropolitan financial district was packed to capacity. Hundreds of journalists, international investors, and the entire board of directors sat in stunned silence as the morning financial tickers scrolled across the massive digital screens.

The headlines dominated every global network:

COMMANDER GABRIEL VANCE EXONERATED; RICARDO AND VICTORIA VANCE ARRESTED IN MASSIVE CONSPIRACY.

LEGITIMATE HEIR OF ARTHUR VANCE RECOVERED ALIVE.

The heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open.

Gabriel entered, wearing his full ceremonial naval dress uniform, the golden epaulets gleaming beneath the chandeliers, his chest covered in the medals of honor he had rightfully earned. His dark hair was neatly styled, his jaw squared with command authority. Walking beside him was Elena, radiant in an emerald silk suit that completely concealed her healing bruises, her chin held high. In her arms, baby Arthur wore a simple white linen outfit, looking around the opulent room with wide, curious eyes.

The room erupted into frantic camera flashes and overlapping shouts of reporters.

Gabriel walked directly to the head of the boardroom table, where the empty chair of the Chief Executive Officer had sat vacant since the scandal broke. Standing behind the chair, Gabriel placed both hands flat on the polished mahogany. The room fell dead silent, awaiting the commander's voice.

"For the past six months, this corporation was run by thieves and murderers," Gabriel stated, his voice commanding absolute obedience. "Contracts were forged, alliances were broken, and the honorable name my grandfather spent sixty years building was dragged through blood and greed."

The board members, many of whom had complicitly turned a blind eye to Ricardo’s coup, looked down at their leather blotters in shame.

"Under the explicit provisions of Patriarch Arthur Vance's last will and testament," Marcus Vance announced from the perimeter, projecting the certified probate court decree onto the main screen, "sixty percent of the controlling voting shares are immediately vested in Arthur Vance II. Commander Gabriel Vance and Elena Vance are confirmed as sole legal guardians and joint executors of the Vance Conglomerate."

Gabriel leaned forward, his dark eyes sweeping across the trembling executives. "Every vice president who approved Ricardo’s unauthorized expenditures is fired, effective immediately. Every private security contract associated with this firm is terminated. The Vance Corporation will return to its founding charter: naval manufacturing, maritime logistics, and transparent global trade."

A veteran director raised his hand cautiously. "Commander... what about the stock market panic? Our shares dropped forty percent when the arrests were announced. Wall Street is expecting a bankruptcy petition."

Gabriel looked at Elena, and for the first time, a small, confident smile touched his lips. He slid a thick blue binder across the table.

"The Department of the Navy and the Allied Maritime Defense Coalition have just ratified a twelve-billion-dollar contract with Vance Shipyards for the next-generation sovereign fleet," Gabriel announced. "Our shares won't collapse. By the time the market closes today, the Vance Empire will be stronger than it has ever been in its history."

Applause swept the room like wildfire, led by the junior executives and shareholders who had suffered under Victoria’s tyranny. Gabriel turned to Elena, reaching down to lift their son into his arms.

As they walked out of the boardroom into the grand atrium, Elena whispered, "Is it finally over, Gabriel? Can we go home?"

Gabriel kissed her temple, holding his family close. "Yes. We’re going home."
