Chapter 15 - The Unbroken Shield

Gabriel stood under the library chandelier, his eyes scanning the intercepted intelligence document three times. The peace he had felt only an hour before evaporated into cold, tactical vigilance. Ricardo and Victoria were small wolves, greedy and short-sighted, acting as opportunistic pawns for a much darker international leviathan.
His grandfather’s legacy was not just an American maritime company; it held the master exploration treaties for the deepest strategic energy reserves in the Black Sea—treaties that foreign oligarchs were willing to start wars to obtain.
Gabriel slowly folded the letter, slipping it into his inner pocket. He did not feel panic; he felt the steady, ice-cold resolve of a commander who had faced death a hundred times and refused to yield an inch of ground.
He walked out onto the stone terrace overlooking the midnight grounds of Vance Manor. In the darkness below, silent shadows patrolled the perimeter—not hired mercenaries, but his faithful recon veterans led by Leo, moving with disciplined precision through the trees. The house was an impenetrable fortress now.
Footsteps approached softly from behind. Elena wrapped a silk robe around herself, stepping onto the cool stone beside him. She looked at his posture, instantly recognizing the slight shift in his shoulders.
"Gabriel?" she asked quietly, her hand sliding into his. "What is it?"
Gabriel turned to her, his dark eyes filled with absolute, unwavering love and an unbreakable promise. He didn't hide the truth from her; they were partners now, forged in fire and blood.
"There are other enemies out there, Elena," he said, his voice deep and steady like the ocean tides. "Men who thought they could break our family while I was at sea. Men who still think they can take what belongs to our son."
Elena looked down at the gardens, then back into the eyes of the man who had fought through hell to hold her again. She didn't flinch. She didn't tremble. She squeezed his hand with fierce, unyielding pride.
"Let them come," Elena whispered, her chin lifting against the night breeze. "They don't know who we are."

Gabriel smiled—a cold, dangerous smile that promised fire and ruin to anyone who dared cross their threshold. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close as the storm clouds on the distant horizon gathered once again over the dark ocean.
"They declared war on the wrong family," Gabriel said into the night. "And this time, we finish it."
