Chapter 10 - Leo’s Gift

As winter set in, Leo’s health improved dramatically thanks to the world-class medical team Julian had arranged. The little boy was gaining weight, his cheeks rosy again.
One snowy afternoon, Leo knocked softly on the heavy door of Julian’s home office.
"Come in, buddy," Julian said, closing his laptop.
Leo walked in, clutching a folded sheet of construction paper. He climbed onto the leather armchair opposite Julian and placed the paper on the desk.
"I made this for you," Leo whispered shyly.
Julian unfolded the drawing. It was a picture of four people: a tall man in a suit, a woman in a blue dress holding a small baby, and a little boy smiling with a toy car. At the top, written in uneven crayon letters, were the words: OUR REAL FAMILY.
Julian’s throat tightened. He picked up the drawing, treating it with more care than any multi-million dollar contract he had ever signed.

"Thank you, Leo," Julian said, his voice thick with emotion. "This is going right on my wall."
Leo beamed, running out to show Clara the framed spot Julian had immediately cleared.
