Chapter 14 - The New Dawn

Three weeks after the wedding, Clara went into labor on a warm Sunday morning.
The delivery room at St. Jude’s hospital was quiet and peaceful. Julian never left her side, whispering words of encouragement, wiping her brow, and holding her hand through every wave of pain.
At 4:12 PM, the room filled with the sharp, vigorous cry of a newborn baby.
"It’s a girl," the doctor announced with a smile, cleaning the infant and placing her gently onto Clara’s chest.
Clara gasped at the feeling of warm skin against hers. The baby had a tuft of dark hair and large, alert hazel eyes.
Julian sat on the edge of the bed, tears streaming down his face as he kissed Clara’s forehead, then carefully touched the tiny fingers of his newborn daughter.

"She’s perfect," Julian choked out. "What should we name her?"
Clara looked up at him, her heart overflowing with gratitude and serenity. "Grace. Her name is Grace. Because grace is what brought us together."
