Chapter 14 - Rebuilding from Ashes**

Standing at the bottom of the grand stone steps, waiting in the warm afternoon sunshine, was Clara. She wore a simple dark blue coat, her messy hair now neatly styled, her pale cheeks flushed with healthy color. Beside her stood Dr. Sarah Rose, who had risked her medical career to help them escape that rainy night three months ago and had since been fully cleared of all wrongdoing.
Arthur walked down the steps slowly, stopping a few feet in front of Clara. For the first time in many years, a genuine, warm smile broke across his rugged face.
"You look good, Clara," Arthur said gently.
"So do you, Arthur," Clara replied, stepping forward and wrapping her arms around him in a tight, emotional embrace. Arthur wrapped his good arm around her, holding her tightly like a father holding his daughter.
"What happens now?" Clara asked, pulling back slightly to look into his eyes. "The trial is over. The bad people are in prison. Where do we go?"
"Wherever we want," Arthur said softly. "For ten years, I lived in the shadows, fighting old ghosts. But you gave me a reason to step back into the light."
Dr. Sarah Rose walked up, offering a warm smile to both of them. "I opened a small community clinic in northern Vermont, Arthur. It's quiet, surrounded by mountains and trees. No surveillance, no corruption... just people trying to heal. There's a place for both of you if you want it."
Arthur looked at Clara, seeing the hope shining brightly in her hazel eyes—a hope that had once been extinguished by tragedy but was now rekindled by truth and courage.
"What do you think, Clara?" Arthur asked.

"I think... I'd like to see the mountains," Clara smiled.
