Chapter 4 - The Hidden Truth**

Seeing the hesitation in Victoria's eyes, Clara summoned whatever strength she had left. Pushing herself up against the pillows, she unclasped the silver chain around her neck with trembling hands.
"You want this, don't you?" Clara said, her voice shaking but full of defiance.
Everyone in the room turned their attention to the young girl. She held the silver oval locket in her palms. With a faint click, her fingernail caught the edge of the latch, popping the locket open. Inside lay no photograph. Nestled inside the hollow silver casing was a micro flash drive, glowing with a tiny, intermittent amber light.
Victoria’s eyes narrowed. "Hand it over, Clara. That information is state security. It doesn't belong in the hands of a vigilante."
"This information killed my parents!" Clara cried out, tears finally breaking past her defense, rolling down her pale cheeks. "My father died trying to hide this from you! He told me that if anything happened to him, I should only give this to the man who risked his life to save us in Berlin!"
She looked at Arthur, her eyes filled with complete, unwavering trust. She reached out her small, bandaged hand, offering the locket and the micro drive inside directly to him.
Arthur reached out slowly, his large fingers gently taking the cold metal from her palm. He closed his hand over it, feeling the weight of ten years of suffering and sacrifice resting in the palm of his hand. He looked up at Victoria. "The files are decrypted now, Victoria. Once this drive connects to a global server, every crime, every payoff, every murder sanctioned by your department will be broadcast to every major news network on the planet."
Victoria’s calm demeanor vanished entirely, replaced by cold desperation. "You won't make it out of this building, Arthur. The entire block is surrounded."

"Then we had better start running," Arthur said quietly.
