Chapter 7 - An Unexpected Covenant
Thomas met with his family attorney the following morning. He had inherited vast timberland and a prosperous contracting firm from his father. Revenge demanded he let Claire suffer the consequences of Elena’s ruin, but conscience demanded otherwise.
"You want to establish an anonymous trust for the attempted murderer’s sister?" the attorney asked, bewildered.

"Claire is innocent," Thomas replied calmly, signing the trust deed. "Elena tried to kill my body. If I abandon an innocent woman out of spite, she succeeds in killing my character."
The fund guaranteed Claire's medical treatments, round-the-clock nursing, and rehabilitation for five years, managed under a third-party non-profit. Grace was not the absence of justice, but the refusal to become cruel.
