Chapter 11 - A Mother's TestimonyThe day before the final judgment, Clara was invited to address the City Council’s Urban Renewal Committee. The gallery was packed with working-class families, community organizers, and press correspondents.

Clara stood at the podium. She did not speak of Julian by name, nor did she dwell on the painful afternoon in Room 412 when she was told to surrender her dignity.
"A city is not a blueprint of steel, glass, and profit margins," Clara spoke, her voice carrying clear and resonant across the chamber. "A city is a covenant between generations. When we allow those with wealth to treat human lives as disposable—whether it is an evicted family or a newborn child discarded for social convenience—we erode the foundation upon which our society stands. We must measure prosperity not by how high our towers reach, but by how securely we protect the most vulnerable among us."
The applause that followed was not polite applause; it was a thunderous standing ovation that echoed into the corridors of power.
