Chapter 11 - The Fall of Marcus ThorneThe two brothers slammed into the iron rail tie, rolling over gravel and snow. Marcus, heavier and driven by desperate mania, threw a wild punch that caught Julian across the jaw. Julian tasted copper, but his fury was cold, precise, and calculated.

Julian caught Marcus’s wrist as he reached for the fallen revolver, twisting the arm sharply until the steel clattered against the rails. With a sharp strike to Marcus’s solar plexus, Julian flipped his brother onto his back, pinning him against the icy ground, his knee planted squarely on Marcus’s chest.
"It's over, Marcus," Julian breathed, his chest heaving, steam pluming into the freezing air. "It's done."
Marcus lay there, pinned, the cold soaking through his jacket. His breathing came in ragged gasps. He looked up at Julian, then over toward Elena, who had dropped to her knees, holding Leo in a fierce, tearful embrace while Noah Vance jogged through the shattered doorway, rifle ready, securing the perimeter.

"Why didn't you let them bury the ledgers?" Marcus wheezed, blood flecking his lips. "We could have owned this coast. We could have had everything."
"I have everything," Julian said quietly, glancing back at Elena and Leo. "You just never knew what mattered."
