Chapter 15 - The Dawn of a New LegacySpring began its quiet arrival along the northern coast. The ice on the bay windows of the Thorne estate had long melted away, replaced by the gentle tapping of budding birch branches against the glass.

The estate had transformed. The heavy security gates remained, but the armed contractors were gone, replaced by the natural rhythms of a home reclaiming its soul. Outside on the sprawling green lawn, Leo was teaching Thomas—now resting happily in a stroller—how to spot red-tailed hawks circling above the valley.

Julian stood on the back veranda, leaning against the cedar railing. The morning breeze carried the fresh scent of thawed pine needles and ocean brine. Elena walked out, carrying two steaming mugs of tea, handing one to Julian before leaning her shoulder lightly against his.

"The federal court finalized the asset transfers this morning," Julian remarked quietly, looking out at the horizon. "Marcus signed the final relinquishment papers from his cell. The maritime line is being reorganized into a maritime conservation trust."

Elena smiled, taking a sip of tea. "Your father would have hated that."

"My father never saw a horizon he didn't want to build a cage around," Julian replied softly, looking down at Leo, who had picked a dandelion and was holding it out for baby Thomas to touch. "We are going to give these boys something different."

"What’s that?" Elena asked.

"A name that feels like shelter," Julian said, his eyes filled with quiet devotion, "instead of an armor."

The morning sun broke through the remaining mist, washing over the hills in warm gold. Leo’s bright laughter floated up across the veranda, clear and untroubled, echoing through the trees and out toward the free, open sea.
