Chapter 12 - Standing on Unshakable GroundFriday morning brought a quiet rain over the city.

Julian arrived at Claire’s house unannounced, carrying an umbrella and a cardboard box. When Claire opened the door, he looked humbled, his eyes red from lack of sleep.
"I left the firm," Julian said quietly.
Claire leaned against the doorway. "Why?"
"Sophia told me that if I didn't get you to drop the debt collection, she would file for an annulment. She said I was worthless without your backing." Julian swallowed hard, holding out the box. "These are Dad’s old woodworking tools. You asked for them years ago when I took them to show off in my modern loft. They belong with you."

Claire looked at the scarred wooden box. Their father had used those chisels to build their first dining table when they had nothing.
"Come inside, Julian," Claire said softly, stepping aside. "The tea is hot."
