Claire stood on the newly renovated terrace of the St. Jude Children’s Art Wing—a project Clearwater had funded entirely in Toby’s name. The courtyard below was filled with laughing children, colorful murals, and families sitting together under maple trees.

Julian stood nearby, holding an ice cream cone for Toby while the boy ran through the fallen leaves with other children. Julian looked healthier, lighter, his eyes free from the hollow ambition that had once consumed him.

Power was the courage to speak when silence was profitable. It was the refusal to let arrogance demean innocence. And above all, it was the quiet, unyielding promise of a mother whose love could dismantle an empire to protect her child's peace.

Toby ran up the terrace steps, his cheeks flushed pink with joy, handing Claire a single golden maple leaf.

Claire pressed the leaf into her palm, smiled at her son, and took his hand as they walked together into the afternoon light.
