Elena met his gaze without an ounce of fear. "You took credit for my research, Arthur. You cut my commission in half when I asked for paternity leave for my husband. You threatened to blackball Clara from the entire financial sector because she wouldn't sign off on your altered quarterly summaries."
She paused, taking a slow, steady breath that felt like her first clean breath in years. "The only mistake we made was remaining silent for so long."
Two uniformed federal agents entered the floor, their badges flashing under the bright lights. They moved directly toward Arthur, reading him his constitutional rights in calm, measured tones. When the steel handcuffs clicked around Arthur’s wrists, the sound resonated through the open office with finality.
Arthur kept his head down, refusing to look at his former subordinates as he was led toward the elevators. The very staff he had terrorized for years stood in absolute silence, watching their tyrant walk away in chains.
