Chapter 12 - The Unseen Threat

By midday, the mansion was fortified like a medieval castle. Victor had redistributed the loyal guards, sealing every corridor and setting up a command post in the main study. Elena sat at the oak desk, watching Victor coordinate defensive maneuvers over encrypted radio channels. The atmosphere was thick with tension, every shadow hiding potential threats. Suddenly, the primary radar monitors flickered, displaying multiple heat signatures scaling the perimeter wall at the rear of the estate. Victor’s eyes narrowed into slits; Vance wasn't waiting for a parley—he was launching an all-out assault on the compound.

Victor grabbed his tactical vest, strapping it over his black shirt while ordering Elena to take the toddler back to the reinforced panic room immediately. Elena stood her ground, refusing to run this time. She held up the small folded paper she had pulled from her jacket earlier, telling Victor that he needed to read what her mother left behind before the bullets started flying. Victor snatched the paper, his eyes scanning the first few lines—and the color instantly drained from his face as he realized the true identity of the boy upstairs.
