Chapter 14 - The Clash at the Gates
The mansion erupted into chaos. Gunfire echoed through the opulent halls, shattering chandeliers and riddling the priceless artwork with bullet holes. Victor fought with the relentless fury of a man protecting everything he had ever loved, moving from room to room to neutralize Vance’s advance team. In the courtyard, Commander Vance himself stepped through the blasted double doors, shouting Victor’s name over the din of battle. Victor descended the grand staircase once more, his black shirt stained with gunpowder and sweat, stepping out into the shattered foyer to face his former commander face-to-face.
The two men locked eyes across the blood-soaked marble floor. Vance sneered, taunting Victor with the inevitability of his doom and mocking his sudden attachment to a woman and a child. Victor’s jaw clenched so hard a muscle twitched in his cheek, but his voice remained ice-cold as he told Vance that a man with nothing left to lose is the most dangerous force on earth. With a sudden, explosive burst of speed, Victor lunged across the foyer, driving his fist straight into Vance’s chest before the commander could even raise his weapon.
