""My father didn't trigger the containment lockdown,"" Raymond said, his baritone voice steady and merciless. ""He tried to override it from his private terminal. But someone had already overwritten the master codes from an off-site computer registered to an offshore shell company: Aegis Holdings. A company owned exclusively by you, Cynthia.""
Clara gasped, staring at Cynthia with wide, horrified eyes. ""You told me Raymond killed him!""
""Nicholas discovered you were siphoning millions from the pension fund,"" Raymond continued, advancing another step. ""He threatened to go to the federal board. You killed him, staged the leak, and let my father take the blame until the day he died of grief.""

Cynthia’s face twisted into an ugly snarl of rage. ""He deserved everything he got! He was a clerk! And you—you sat on your golden throne while I had to beg for scrap allowances!""
She raised the revolver, aiming straight between Raymond's eyes. Before her finger could squeeze the trigger, Clara threw her weight sideways, toppling the heavy wooden chair directly into Cynthia’s shins.
