Chapter 15 - Dawn of a New Horizon

With a sudden, lightning-fast motion, David didn't plead—he drew a concealed tactical flash-bang from his belt, pulled the pin with his teeth, and hurled it against the polished steel floor to his left. The blinding white flash and concussive blast obliterated Elena’s concentration, sending her stumbling backward and dropping the detonator. David lunged across the slick floor, tackling her into the control console before she could recover. The detonator skittered across the tiles, coming to a dead halt against the base of the medical pod. Without wasting a second, David punched the manual override code into the pod’s master panel. The glass shield hissed open, and cool vapor spilled out onto the floor. Sarah stirred, her eyelids fluttering open as she took a deep, shuddering breath of fresh air, looking up into David’s tear-filled eyes.
“You came back,” she whispered, her voice weak but steady.
