Chapter 15 - The New Dynasty

One year later.

The grand ballroom of the Vance Maritime Center glittered under the radiance of crystal chandeliers. Hundreds of industry leaders, foreign ambassadors, and corporate titans gathered in black-tie attire to celebrate the annual gala of the Arthur Vance Foundation.

The company was no longer drowning in debt. Under Claire’s ruthless restructuring, all illicit ties had been severed, the logistics network had been fully modernized, and the company had posted record profits for four consecutive quarters.

On the front cover of the financial magazines stacked on the media tables, a striking portrait caught everyone's eye: Claire Vance, standing tall in a bespoke sapphire gown, holding her two smiling sons, beneath the headline: THE UNSTOPPABLE MATRIARCH.

Up on the mezzanine balcony overlooking the celebration, Claire stood holding a glass of sparkling cider. Thomas Drake, now the permanent Chief of Corporate Operations, stood respectfully a few paces behind her.

""The border patrol sent their quarterly report, Mrs. Vance,"" Thomas reported quietly. ""Evelyn was spotted working at a diner outside Lisbon. No attempts to return.""

""And Julian?"" Claire asked without turning around.

""Sentenced to fifteen years at the Allenwood Federal Correctional Complex yesterday,"" Thomas replied. ""No parole eligibility for the first eight.""

Claire nodded slowly. She looked down at the ballroom floor where her trusted staff was playing with Lucas and Leo near the grand piano. The boys were laughing, taking their first wobbly steps across the polished parquet floor, surrounded by people who would protect them with their lives.

""You did what your grandfather always wanted, Claire,"" Nathan Frost said, joining her on the balcony with a warm smile. ""You didn't just save the company. You purified it.""

""This isn't Julian's empire anymore, Nathan,"" Claire said, looking out through the towering glass facade toward the harbor, where massive cargo ships bearing the Vance crest sailed proudly toward the open ocean under the starlit sky.

She raised her glass toward the horizon, a calm, triumphant smile playing on her lips.

Her phone vibrated in her evening clutch. Claire opened the screen.

It was an alert from the corporate legal registry. An anonymous entity based out of London had just purchased nine percent of Vance Maritime’s secondary shares on the open market. Attached was a private message left for the CEO:

Arthur had more secrets than you know, sister. See you at the annual shareholder meeting.

Claire’s smile slowly faded as she stared at the word on the glowing screen: sister.

The empire was safe, but the war for Arthur Vance’s bloodline had only just begun."
