Tyler’s late father had built an empire in logistics and commercial real estate, leaving behind an ironclad trust intended to safeguard future generations. But greed has a way of corrupting legacy. Eleanor had spent two decades draining secondary accounts to maintain a lavish illusion of high society, unaware that her husband had anticipated her reckless vanity.
The master trust was locked behind dual biometric codes and legal verifications, set to activate only upon the birth of Tyler’s firstborn child. Eleanor was facing imminent financial ruin—foreclosures on luxury properties, unpayable private loans, and public humiliation. Maya, an accountant before she married Tyler, had accidentally uncovered the discrepancies while organizing the family tax portfolios.
Sitting beside Maya’s hospital bed, Tyler opened the encrypted folder on his tablet. The evidence was staggering: forged signatures, diverted charity funds, and fraudulent loans taken out in his name without his knowledge.
"She didn't just hurt you," Tyler murmured, staring at the financial records. "She orchestrated an entire life of deceit."
Maya turned her head slowly on the pillow. "She believed that if the baby didn't survive, the secondary clause of the trust would default the estate back to her sole discretion."
A sickening coldness settled in Tyler's stomach. Eleanor hadn't just acted out in sudden anger; she had weighed an innocent human life against balance sheets and chosen the money.

"Tyler," the Captain said, his expression somber. "Your mother's legal team has already contacted the District Attorney. They're claiming it was an unfortunate household accident and that you tampered with the scene. We need your official statement, son. Off the record as your friend, and on the record as an officer of the law."
