Chapter 15 - The Vance Dynasty

Victor’s eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated horror.
Stepping out from behind the tactical team was Richard Vance. Though his hair was silver and a faded scar crossed his jaw, his presence filled the room with undeniable majesty. He looked at his traitorous brother with absolute disgust.
""Richard..."" Victor choked, his cane slipping from his fingers and clattering against the floor. ""You... you were dead!""
""I waited fifteen years for you to show your hand, Victor,"" Richard said calmly, standing beside his daughter. ""I waited until my Elena grew into a warrior capable of destroying your puppets without my help. You underestimated her because she was a woman. Julian underestimated her because she was kind. And that arrogance has cost you everything.""
Sirens wailed in the distance, growing louder by the second. Blue and red lights began flashing through the grand windows of the Mayfair mansion. Scotland Yard had arrived.
Elena turned her back on her uncle, refusing to give him the satisfaction of another look as officers poured into the room, snapping heavy handcuffs onto Victor and his conspirators.
""Take them away,"" Richard said quietly to the lead inspector.
Father and daughter walked out of the estate together into the cool London air. The rain was falling again, gentle and cleansing, washing away fifteen years of deceit, murder, and betrayal.
Richard turned to Elena, his eyes softening as he looked down at her pregnant belly. ""Your mother would be so proud of you, Elena. You didn't just survive. You conquered.""
Elena placed her hand over her father’s arm, feeling the warmth of family she had thought lost forever. The bitter memories of Julian tossing an envelope of cash into the mud, the humiliation of Victoria’s sneers, and the pain of Clara’s mockery were nothing more than distant ashes scattered by the wind.
""We have a new legacy to build now, Dad,"" Elena said, her voice filled with quiet, unbreakable strength.
""Yes, we do,"" Richard smiled softly. ""What will you name them?""
May you like
Elena looked up into the clear night sky as the clouds parted above London, her heart beating in unison with the two strong pulses beneath her ribs.
""Alexander and Victoria,"" she said with a faint, ironic smile. ""So that every time history speaks their names, the world will remember who truly won the war."""
