If you refuse, I will call an emergency shareholder meeting and vote you out of Sterling Global.”
Julian did not even pick up the pen. He looked up at the woman who had birthed him, feeling an immense, tragic pity.

Julian reached into his pocket. Slowly, deliberately, he pulled off the heavy gold signet ring bearing the Sterling crest—the symbol of five generations of dynastic tyranny. He placed it squarely on top of the legal document.

“Call the meeting,” Julian said. “Vote me out. Sell the shares. I have built four independent companies with my own hands. I keep the east wing estate which belongs to me legally, and I keep my family. You can have the throne. It’s made of ice anyway.”
Eleanor stared at the ring, her face turning pale as she realized she held no leverage over a man who had discovered something worth more than money.
