Chapter 12 - The Verdict of Severance
Judge Harrison, a veteran jurist with thirty years on the bench, removed her reading glasses and stared down at Victoria Bennett.
"In all my years of family law," Judge Harrison said, her voice trembling with restrained anger, "I have rarely witnessed such cold, predatory disregard for human life and dignity masked as familial devotion."
The judge ruled decisively: Victoria’s petition for visitation was denied with prejudice. Furthermore, the court issued an immediate, permanent restraining order prohibiting Victoria Bennett from coming within five hundred yards of Julian, Eleanor, or Lily Bennett.

"The respondent has demonstrated that lineage does not confer a right to harm," Judge Harrison declared, striking the gavel. "Case dismissed."
As the court adjourned, Victoria rose slowly. For the first time, her gaze met Julian’s. There was no defiance left in her eyes—only a bottomless, empty realization of total defeat. She opened her mouth to speak, but Julian gently took Eleanor’s hand, turned his back, and walked out into the corridor without a single word.
