The woman looked down in disbelief. Leo was not in a stance; he was kneeling calmly, his hands flat against the dirty floor. ""Third form,"" Leo murmured, his tiny face emotionless once more. ""The foundation of earth.""
With a sudden, violent twist of his tiny torso, Leo swept his leg across her standing ankle, throwing her violently off-balance. As she tumbled down, he drove his heel down onto her elbow joint. The audible snap of bone resounded in the narrow corridor. The woman screamed, dropping the knife and thrashing away like a wounded predator.

Ron scrambled to his feet, grabbing Leo and shoving open the heavy metal exit door that led to the loading dock outside. The night air hit them like a cold slap. Rain was falling in heavy sheets, drumming rhythmically against the asphalt of the loading bay. Parked beside the dumpsters was a black sedan with its engine idling, headlights cutting through the downpour.
""Get in!"" a voice barked from the lowered driver’s window. Ron hesitated, but a glance back revealed three more armed silhouettes emerging from the mall doors. Left with no choice, Ron dove into the back seat of the sedan with Leo in his arms, slamming the door shut. The car tore away into the rain-slicked highway just as bullets hammered against the rear glass, spider-webbing the bulletproof windshield.
