Chapter 11 - First BreathAt 4:18 AM, the storm outside ceased, leaving the world enveloped in clean, washed dawn light.

A sharp, indignant cry filled the delivery room.
"A boy," the doctor announced, gently resting the wet, squirming newborn onto Elena’s bare chest. "Healthy, ten fingers, ten toes. Look at those lungs."
Elena let out a ragged sob of pure release, stroking the dark, downy hair on the baby’s head. Julian stood beside her bed, his broad frame bowed, tears spilling openly down his bearded face. He made no sound, his hand hovering reverently above the baby’s tiny back, afraid his touch might be too rough.
Elena looked up from the child to Julian. She saw a man completely stripped bare—no corporate veneer, no emotional armor, only raw, unadorned devotion.

Julian brought his trembling fingers down, resting them lightly against the baby’s warm skin. The infant curled his tiny fist around Julian’s index finger and held on tight.
