Chapter 11 - The Confession of Julian

The explosion from the crash shook the warehouse foundations, filling the night sky with a deep orange glow. In the flickering light of the flames, Julian lay pinned, sobbing beneath the wreckage, watching his dreams of power incinerate in the marsh.
Victor walked over and stood above him. He picked up the dropped digital tablet, which was still displaying the signature pad that Clara had refused to sign.
""You had everything, Julian,"" Victor said, his voice flat. ""A seat at the table. A family that loved you. An empire you didn't have to build with your own hands.""
""I was always your lapdog!"" Julian spat, blood bubbling on his lips. ""You never respected me! You made Clara the managing trustee! I was just the consort!""
""You were a steward,"" Victor replied coldly. ""And a steward doesn't poison the well.""
Victor pulled the recording device from his pocket—the one Lily had held in the parking lot. He tapped the screen, uploading the video of Julian and Eleanor plotting the murder directly to the servers of the Department of Justice, Interpol, and the global press.
""Now, the whole world knows,"" Victor whispered.

Victor turned away. ""I don't care about the stock. I care about the bloodline.""
