Chapter 13 - The Federal Siege
Dozens of black tactical vans screeched to a halt outside the warehouse doors, heavily armed federal agents spilling out with assault rifles drawn. A man in a dark trench coat walked through the perimeter cordon, flashing an executive badge from the Department of Homeland Security.
""Victor Vance! Drop any weapons and step away from the civilians!"" the lead agent commanded through a megaphone.
Victor didn't raise his hands. He stood between the federal agents and his daughter's cot, his broad shoulders shielding them completely.
""Agent Miller,"" Victor called out calmly. ""You're late. The Ravenwood mercenaries are already neutralized.""
Agent Miller walked closer, his weapon lowered but his expression grim. ""We're not here for Ravenwood, Victor. We're here for you. Two hours ago, your son-in-law filed an emergency petition alleging you kidnapped his wife, assaulted his family, and seized corporate assets by force. The Attorney General signed the warrant himself.""
Julian, still trapped under the scaffolding, let out a bloody laugh from the shadows. ""I filed the motion before we even left the garage, Victor! Even if I go down, you spend the rest of your life in a federal cell!""

Clara tried to sit up, panicking. ""No! My husband is lying! Look at the footage on my daughter's phone!""
Agent Miller shook his head slowly. ""The footage isn't verified yet, ma'am. Until then, Victor Vance is taken into federal custody.""
