Chapter 1 - The Echo of Command

The luxurious white penthouse radiated an almost blinding brilliance, its high arched windows framing a stormy evening sky over the city. A massive crystal chandelier cast glittering reflections across polished marble floors, while expensive white floral arrangements added an air of cold, sterile elegance. Standing near the center of the room was Aiden Vance, an imposing figure with slicked-back dark hair, an intense, piercing gaze, and a distinct jagged scar slicing across his right eyebrow. He wore a heavy dark grey overcoat draped over a pristine black shirt, radiating an aura of absolute authority and danger.

Four burly bodyguards in sharp, tailored black suits stood rigid and alert in the background, like statues carved from obsidian. Seated gracefully on a plush white sofa was Elena, an elegant woman with cascading brown wavy hair, dressed in a silky cream wrap dress and high heels. Beside her sat Titan, a colossal black Cane Corso wearing a heavy brown leather tactical harness fitted with gleaming metal buckles. The beast was a terrifying mass of muscle, its heavy breathing echoing softly in the tense silence.

Aiden took a slow, deliberate step forward, his eyes locked onto Elena with unyielding coldness. Without breaking eye contact, his voice cut through the heavy atmosphere like a razor blade.

“Move,” Aiden commanded firmly.

Elena did not flinch. She tilted her head upward, looking at him with a calm, unshakeable defiance that seemed entirely unbothered by his intimidating presence. Her posture remained relaxed, yet her eyes held a spark of deep, calculated resolve.

“No,” Elena replied softly, her voice steady and clear.

Aiden’s jaw tightened, a muscle ticking near his cheek. He shifted his gaze from Elena to the massive beast sitting beside her. He raised a hand, pointing two fingers toward himself, adopting the posture of an absolute master issuing an unalterable decree.

“Titan, come,” Aiden ordered, his tone laced with absolute certainty that his beast would obey.

The giant black dog slowly rose from its crouched position beside the sofa. Its heavy paws clicked against the marble floor as it began to walk across the room toward Aiden. Elena watched the animal leave her side, a faint, cryptic smile touching the corners of her lips.

“Well, that seems pretty clear,” Elena murmured softly, her words carrying a strange double meaning that sent an involuntary shiver down Aiden’s spine.

As Titan stopped mere inches away, Aiden reached out to grab the harness, expecting the usual submissive greeting. But as his fingers brushed the leather, his hand froze. His eyes widened in sudden horror as he noticed a digital override module embedded in the strap—a frequency transceiver that didn’t belong to him. His face dropped into total disbelief, jaw agape as the terrifying realization struck him.

What had she done to his dog?
