Chapter 14 - The Final Ultimatum

The sudden, explosive movement shattered the fragile stillness of the penthouse. Aiden’s hand slammed down onto the steel briefcase, sweeping aside encrypted drives and data cables until his fingers gripped a heavy, cold metallic object hidden deep within the double-lined bottom compartment—a classified emergency orbital relay trigger.
“Aiden, no!” Viktor screamed, lunging forward with a speed that belied his age, trying to tackle him before he could activate the device.
“Stay back!” Aiden roared, spinning around with the heavy metallic trigger raised in his hand, a blinding red LED flashing menacingly across its surface. The remaining guards flinched, instinctively pressing themselves flat against the marble floor to avoid the potential blast radius.
Elena didn't move an inch. She turned slowly from the window, her eyes narrowing as she looked at the device in Aiden’s hand. Her expression remained chillingly composed, though a muscle twitched near her jawline.
“You’re holding an uplink to the orbital defense grid, Aiden?” Elena asked, her voice dangerously steady. “What are you planning to do—blow up the entire corporate headquarters just because you lost control of the board?”
“Not the headquarters,” Aiden laughed, a harsh, manic sound that echoed off the high vaulted ceilings. He raised the trigger higher, his thumb hovering directly over the master activation stud. “I’m talking about the entire maritime and shipping network across three continents—every vessel, every automated port terminal, and every offshore data hub we ever built together. If I don't own this empire, then no one does. We all go down in the fire.”
Viktor stopped dead in his tracks, his face turning the color of ash. He stared at Aiden in sheer disbelief. “You’re insane! That would trigger an economic collapse that would wipe out millions of lives and plunge the global markets into a decade of chaos!”
“Then you should have thought twice before helping her steal my life,” Aiden snarled, his thumb pressing halfway down on the activator, causing the red LED to flash with a frantic, rhythmic strobe.
The tension in the room reached a fever pitch. Marcus held his breath from where he lay pinned beneath Titan, and Viktor squeezed his eyes shut, bracing for the end.
Only Elena remained utterly calm. She took two slow, deliberate steps forward, closing the distance between them until she was standing mere feet from the lethal device.
“Go ahead, Aiden,” Elena whispered softly, her eyes locking onto his with unyielding intensity. “Press it. Show the world that you were never a king—just a frightened, bitter little boy who would rather burn the house down than admit he lost the game.”
May you like
Aiden’s hand trembled slightly. The manic fire in his eyes wavered for a split second as he stared into her unblinking gaze, confronting the terrifying reality of his own absolute loneliness.
Before his thumb could complete the downward press, a sharp, piercing howl echoed through the corridor outside the penthouse doors, followed by the heavy thud of boots and the unmistakable sound of federal sirens wailing in the streets far below.
