Chapter 13 - Unraveling the Beast

The chaotic struggle in the center of the penthouse instantly dissolved back into a suffocating, breathless silence. Marcus lay pinned beneath Titan’s massive forepaws, gasping for air, his face pale with the terror of a man who realized how close he had come to being torn apart.
Elena stood tall beside the beast, her hand resting casually on the heavy leather tactical harness. She didn't look down at the groaning guard; her eyes remained fixed on Aiden, who stood frozen a few feet away, his fists clenched so tightly that blood threatened to break from his knuckles.
“You trained him well, Aiden,” Elena said, her voice carrying a haunting, melodic mockery. “You taught him to recognize strength, to obey authority, and to strike without hesitation when the master gave the word. But you made one fatal flaw in his programming.”
Aiden’s jaw tightened. He didn't speak, refusing to give her the satisfaction of an interrogation.
“You forgot to teach him loyalty,” Elena continued smoothly, her fingers scratching gently behind Titan’s alert, pointed ears. The massive dog let out a deep, rumbling sigh, its dangerous posture instantly softening into one of absolute devotion toward her. “Loyalty isn't built on fear, shock collars, or cryptographic triggers. It’s built on trust. And a beast always knows who the real monster in the room is.”
Viktor stepped up beside Aiden, his breathing shallow, his face aged by a decade in the span of a single hour. He looked around the devastated room—his men disarmed, his master plan fractured, and the invincible Aiden Vance standing cornered in his own home.
“Elena, enough,” Viktor said, his voice cracking with exhaustion. “You’ve dismantled his empire, you’ve broken his security, and you’ve reclaimed your name. If you push this any further, there won’t be anything left of either of you to salvage.”
Elena turned her head slowly, fixing her sharp, analytical gaze on Viktor. “Salvage? Viktor, for five years I lived in the wreckage of a life he burned to the ground for a handful of corporate shares. There is nothing left to salvage. There is only judgment.”
She stepped away from Titan, leaving the massive dog standing guard over Marcus, and walked toward the grand floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the storm-tossed city. The rain was lashing violently against the glass, distorting the neon lights of the metropolis below into bleeding streaks of red and white.
“At dawn, the federal indictments go public,” Elena said quietly, her back turned to them. “By noon, the board will vote to strip the Vance name from every building, every ship, and every trust bearing your signature. And by tomorrow night, Aiden, you will walk out of these doors with nothing more than the clothes on your back.”
Aiden slowly shook his head. A dark, dangerous smile spread across his lips—a smile born of pure, unadulterated madness.

“You think a courtroom or a ruined name breaks me, Elena?” Aiden stepped forward, his voice dropping into a low, hypnotic register that made the hair on the back of Viktor’s neck stand up. “I didn't climb out of the slums by playing by their rules. And I certainly won't die by them.”
Before anyone could react, Aiden lunged toward the glass coffee table where Viktor’s heavy steel briefcase still sat unlocked.
